How to Stay Healthy & Avoid Overeating During the Pandemic
Most of us will remain cooped up at home for many more weeks or months as health officials and government leaders monitor the spread of coronavirus and debate when and how to reopen. Boredom, stress and anxiety can lead to unhealthy eating and exercise habits that may feel like indulgent self-care at first, but tend to make us feel worse in the long run. Sticking to a normal routine and schedule for work, exercise, leisure and extra mental breaks throughout the day such as a short walk outside or a video call with a friend can help us stay healthy while we’re under stay-at-home orders.
Another important factor is sticking to a healthy diet. Avoid high-fat, carbohydrate-heavy foods like chips, ice cream and frozen meals. Include at least two vegetable servings with every meal, and protein such as meat or beans that will keep you feeling full and satisfied.
