Move over, cough drops.
There’s a more natural way to soothe sore throats with rosehip tea.
Rosehips have natural mucilaginous properties, which means a viscous or gelatinous substance.
Drinking rosehip beverages can ease the pain and scratchiness of a sore throat by providing a natural coating for the mucous membranes in the throat.
Rosehip also acts as a demulcent, which relieves inflammation and irritation by creating a protective film over the areas that hurt.
Beyond soothing sore throats, the mucilaginous and demulcent properties of rosehip also help coat the digestive tract and alleviate the pain and discomfort of diarrhea, stomach ache, and upset stomach caused by antibiotics.
In addition to their anti-inflammatory benefits, rosehips are an excellent source of Vitamin C so they help strengthen your immune system so you can recover from the underlying illness that caused the sore throat or tummy troubles in the first place. High amounts of Vitamin C can shorten the duration of colds, and diminish the severity of symptoms.
When our friends, family and colleagues come down with sore throats, we rely on NADI Original Wild Rosehip drink to provide relief.
Here’s a recipe for a soothing rosehip herbal tea with honey that will help your throat feel better right away.
Soothing Rosehip Honey Tea
1 bottle of NADI Original Wild Rosehip drink
2 tbsp. Honey
Twist of orange peel
Pour 6 ounces of NADI Original Wild Rosehip drink into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high for about 1-2 minutes until it begins to steam. Stir in the honey until completely dissolved. Twist the orange peel over the tea and then drop it into the mug. Sip slowly, swishing the rosehip tea around your mouth before swallowing.
This drink is especially soothing and delicious when served warm, but it can also be cooled and served over ice.
